Perhaps about now you might be looking forward to the cool days of Fall. If summer has been a bit of a challenge for you, delight yourself in the vision of the colorful changes of trees, cool, crisp mornings and shorter days with candle lit evenings.
This year's cozy season created new opportunities to design a Fall tablescape with only the items on hand at The Little Yellow Corner Store and, therefore, to make the Fall tablescape look entirely like something new. However, there was one other caveat....the tablescape must elicit a feeling of the most coziest, inviting and comfortably warm tablesetting to ever host a dinner. A setting of intimacy and pleasure, like sitting in front of a flickering camp fire with a warm, steaming cup of tea and a soft, comfy blanket. The Little Yellow Corner Store took on the task and put "heart and soul" into the design with the greatest emphasis on coziness, welcoming charm and the closest representation of colorfully pleasing Autumn.
This year the Hull Drip Pottery Dinnerware was the inspiration piece. The collection is a restored dinnerware set collection from long ago when it was a beginning starter set purchased just after being newly married. The "drip" on the rims of each deep chocolate brown piece offers a comparison to the various shades of soil in nature and a rather unrefined, rugged, earthy sort of a feel to the table. A perfect choice to pair it with the warmth and glow of a burnt orange tablecloth.
A mix of modern and ruggedness allows for a playful contrast with the drip edged plates against the modern pattern floral placemat.
The amber Indiana glassware seems to glow as the afternoon sun streams through the dining room. The brushed gold flatware complements the warm tones of the glassware. The rust-orange sunflower on top of the weaved orange napkin speaks volumes of Fall.
Perhaps an acorn shaped salt and pepper set might also be a perfect reminder of the season.
The introduction of the color black in the table such as the centerpiece vase which holds branches of colored Fall leaves and the black metal votive candleholders creates a foundation for all of the Autumn colors of brown gold, orange and burnt orange in the table.
