It is Fall and the Thanksgiving holiday is fast approaching. Some how this year feels a little different. In comparison to last year, it seems that there are signs of some promising days ahead. I trust that you also share this reassuring thought. When I say that the holiday feels a little differently, it means without a doubt, a much brighter and hopeful Thanksgiving season. With a new year just around the corner, certainly the return of gatherings and moments of togetherness among family and friends have generated feelings of blessedness and offers each of us a deep sense of gratefulness.
This week I decided to express my heart-felt gratitude and thankfulness for the special upcoming Thanksgiving holiday in a tablescape design through my choice of colors and table decor pieces inspired by nature. It is also my great pleasure to mention that The Little Yellow Corner Store will once again participate along with other talented table designers in another blog hop hosted by Rita of Panoply. Don't miss this Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop starting the morning of Tuesday, November 9, 2021 where the holiday excitement begins.
Now that we all are in a greater celebratory mood, be sure to visit each of the links at the end of this article for some wonderful tablescape ideas which will jump start your festive holiday season and help set the stage for a cozy and intimate Thanksgiving.
Our Thanksgiving tablescape at The Little Yellow Corner Store is not the usual colors of autumn. Although I love a table arranged in vibrant colors of gold, burnt orange and deep red and decorated with turkeys, pilgrims, gourds, and mums, I instead changed out the colors for a traditional color combination of dark navy, forest green and rich cranberry with a customary plaid table topper. I traded fall foliage and flowers for greenery like pine and pinecones. Instead of turkeys, I used handmade white deer figurines made from wood, which matches the Debbie Mum's salad plate design. It was the perfect choice for the centerpiece. Perhaps, the tablescape may be better suited for winter, but here in Wisconsin, cold, snowy winter weather can be easily seen at Thanksgiving.
Handmade wood deer matches beautifully with the deer design on the salad plate. Both items were my inspiration piece.
A moose plate.
A wolf
A bear plate.
A deer plate.
An off-white knit placemat with antique gold bells on each corner creates a feeling of warmth like when one is wrapped in a thick, soft sweater on a cold Fall day. The knit placemats add texture and the pattern reminds me of the classic wool sweater of Ireland.
The dark navy plaid topper adds to the layers of the table. Doesn't it make sense to layer your clothing on a cold Fall day? Why not your table too?
There is something to be said about navy and green. So classic. A pine garland and pine napkin rings really stands out against the dark navy and contrasts nicely with white placemats and white accent pieces.
Green stemware and candles are in keeping with the color of elements in nature.
Little white ceramic pumpkins dispersed throughout the garland reminds us that it is just about time for Thanksgiving even though there are some years sparkling snow can be present among the decorative outdoor pumpkins. The navy wild life plates with the sprinkling of snow in the background certainly lends that sort of message.
Cranberry colored berry candle rings, dinner plates and cranberry-colored napkins brings a richness and greater interest to the table with its touch of bright color.
The rich color of cranberry and vibrant green like the colors in the tablescape are everywhere outside my window too.
And, of course, the other vibrant colors of gold and burnt orange display their beauty too.
Happy Fall and Happy Thanksgiving too.
God's blessings to you and your family.

I love your vibrant colors and I am so envious of your outdoor view of such majestic and bright colors. Your table is perfect with just the right amount of those same colors. The white wooden deer are adorable and matching them up to the salad plates was definitely a good choice. A great setting for a great Holiday. Thanks for sharing and always being a part of these hops.

If winter starts early where you are, then I say, "Why not?" I've never visited Wisconsin, but I know it is a lot different than here in Missouri weather-wise. If memory serves, your actual fall season is quite short?
ReplyDeleteDeer begin to run rampant here toward the end of October/first of November, so I can definitely see where deer would play into the Thanksgiving theme overall! Good choice!
I am so in love with those placemats! They really DO remind me of a warm woolen sweater!
Wishing you and yours a blessed, safe, and happy Thanksgiving!
We have been known to have snow on Thanksgiving in central NY, too - one year we hd quite a blizzard, so your table is no surprise to me!! Your dishes are so cute and I love your theme, especially with your placemats, making your table so cozy! Enjoy your Thanksgiving and hope it isn't a snowy one yet!!
ReplyDeleteYour table is beautiful Marsha, and can take you through the winter holidays. I love the colors and the plates are adorable...I also love how you have complimented the plates with white pumpkins and deer. We rarely get snow in Alabama, but we do have a lot of deer and often see them scattering from woody areas. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I think anything goes. In your next of the woods, it is cold and perfect to set a holiday table. The white deer are darling followed by those fabulous placemats. Love your plates, so different and perfect with cranberry. Wishing you and yours a fabulous Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! Embracing where we live, and designing around that feels like the right thing to do. I'm blessed to live in a state where we have four seasons - but none of them are an extreme.
ReplyDeleteLove the take on your Thanksgiving table and the different pics from your indoor view.
I love the color and taste of cranberries and how your table embraces them. One of the great things about this hop is the sharing of ideas, traditions, and cultures from around North America. It’s fun to see different interpretations of celebrating the holiday and season. Especially enjoyed seeing your unique plates and how you coordinated them in the centerpiece.
ReplyDeleteMarsha, I love your sweet Debbie Mumm plates. You have such lovely foliage there, and your table is warm and inviting! Have a lovely Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHere in Michigan it is a bit chilly and snow wouldn't be unheard of. Love the knit placemats and the cranberry napkins are striking. Mother nature has provided you with vibrant and stunning fall colors. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! It certainly is different for Thanksgiving, but that's what I like about it. All the white on the table ties in with the white ceramic pumpkin, and I love the sweater placemats. I've seen some wonderful, textural items on this blog hop, which I've enjoyed! I love your plates, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!

Marsha, your table is perfect for Thanksgiving and will transition beautifully for Christmas. The hand-made deer are so lovely and complement the Debbie Mumm plates. The coziness of the place mats add gorgeous texture and remind me of a warm sweater. The trees are gorgeous dressed in autumnal colors. Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving season!
ReplyDeleteI love your adorable Debbie Mumm plates Marsha! Your table is perfect from November and throughout the month of December. Love the contrast of the snowy white knit placemats against the rich navy of your tablecloth. Love seeing all the autumn beauty outside too! As always its treat to join you at the table and hop with you again! Wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving ♥
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Marsha! Your view always delights. What a stunning view you enjoy of the vibrant colorful trees at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteYour hopeful thoughts of better days are contagious. It is wonderful to hope things will continue to improve.
Your commentary is fun to read about how you styled your table. I love your colors and your fun table pieces.
Wishing you a great Thanksgiving!
Totally awesome pics to say the least! This is so my time of year... love, love, love these pics! They're awesome. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun set of dishes. I love the vibrant colors on your table and on your trees. Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving.
The rich color palette of your table is absolutely beautiful! I adore plaid and love the addition of the topper to your table. The deer are precious and such a wonderful touch....perfect for both fall and winter. The closing autumn photographs you have shared are gorgeous! Our fall has been a little late to arrive. We are finally seeing some fall colors, but last night we had terrible storms that blew a lot of the leaves away. We even had a small tornado touch down nearby. That is kind of crazy for November. It is always a joy to join you on these hops. I hope that you have a happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteMarsha, I love how you've taken your creative license and created a Thanksgiving table which is a segue to the season in Wisconsin as well as the holidays. Many of my family are already decorated for Christmas when the Thanksgiving meal is shared, and your 'different' makes all the sense in the world. Once the weather turns, I immediately go to plaids, both in tables and other decor, as well as in my wardrobe. This table could easily take you through winter. A winner. Thank you for sharing your design perspective among us. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming table! I love how you have included so many traditional color and the fun plates and white reindeer.
ReplyDeleteStunning pictures and adorable table!Love.
ReplyDeleteNow that I've lived in Georgia for a number of years, I've forgotten how cold Thanksgiving could be in Ohio. (My memories are all about the food, not the weather, lol!) We've had the A/C running lots of years here on the holiday. Weather aside, your table is cozy and charming. I'm entranced by the salad plates! Have a beautiful fall weekend and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful table! I am loving all these fall photos too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet table - I love all the festive colors! And those trees are gorgeous! By the way, I linked to this post in my latest Thanksgiving and Christmas blog post. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteShelley
Your table is sweet as can be and I love all of the fall trees! I am so fortunate to be spending a little bit of time in Maryland right now where I am getting to enjoy the cooler temperatures and the pretty leaves.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Thanksgiving. Thanks for linking up this week. #HomeMattersParty
ReplyDeleteCongrats! You are being featured at the FWF party. Look for it today, and thanks for sharing your beautiful table.
ReplyDeleteMarsha, I agree that navy and green is a classic color combination. I'm a big fan of deer, so I was happy to see them on your Thanksgiving table. Who says there has to be turkeys? I love the red plates with the deer wearing scarves. So cute! And the "sweater" placemats are so cozy! It's always fun to hop with you. Happy Thanksgiving!
