Fall is here and there is change in the cool, crisp air. With nights coming around a bit earlier, it leaves evenings with more time for indoor work and projects, including preparation for the annual events, such as The Art of Tablesetting exhibit and Christmas in the Mansion 2019 at the Rahr Art Museum in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Be sure to watch for the upcoming posts on the Art of Tablesetting starting Sunday, October 6, 2019 through Sunday, November 3, 2019. Each year, dozens of designers, including myself, exhibit their creative and imaginative interpretation of various tablescape themes at the museum. So planning at this time of year is crucial and getting things ready as early as possible is necessary, including any plans or preparations for Halloween at home.
This week, it is time to share with you a few of the menacing Halloween critters that have dropped by or, should I say, creeped into our porch and dining room for a frightful, but cheerful visit. Look, some are peering through the window waiting for a warm and hospitable invitation to come inside. Let me introduce you to our ghastly friends! First, meet Silly Billy, the Spider. And Sweet Sue, the Hairy Cat. She is so friendly, sophisticated and has a flair for fashion.
Oh my, they brought the whole family.
I can't forget to mention the portrait of our dear old relative, Whimsy the Witch. She was my family's long lost relative many generations ago. She always liked to travel. Can you tell? (Whimsy is a traced silhouette on black felt, framed in a floating picture frame and hung onto a decorative mirror with a transparent 3M hook for easy removal.)
The mantel is glowing with coziness and is a bit unnerving at night, don't you think? Just the way Whimsy would have liked it.
And, of course, our new friends........Meeky and Moser, the mice who found a cozy place to sleep in my apothecary jars.
They brought their friends. The tiny spiders are cousins of Silly Billy the Spider. They are just toddlers.
Awwww...a nice cozy Halloween evening all together. Perhaps a full moon? Time to entertain all who creep and crawl, don't you think? Happy Halloween decorating and come back soon.
One last note. If you love decorating for Halloween, you will love to come back to visit The Little Yellow Corner Store to view the upcoming Halloween Tablescape Blog Hop during Monday, October 14, 2019 through Friday, October 18, 2019. Chloe Crabtree of Celebrate and Decorate will host numerous tablescape designers, including myself, who will share with you all of the eerie and ghoulish Halloween table designs. Don't miss it. More Halloween fun is just ahead...............

Fallen Leaves on the Front Porch
I hope you all are enjoying the beautiful Fall season. This is the perfect time of year where being outside is the most enjoyable, at least here in Wisconsin. The temperatures are cool, the air is fresh and crisp and there are no mosquitos.
As the Thanksgiving holiday fast approaches and the days grow shorter, some remaining time on the front porch is necessary before the close of the season and the snow begins to blanket everything. It is time to take a moment out of the day to watch the leaves fall, read, have a snack and, later at the close of the day, an opportunity to give thanks for being so blessed. Come join me as we share some stories or just collect our thoughts and enjoy the silence on the front porch.
One can be at peace among the kaleidoscope of colors. Some of the trees are displaying their brightest of colors and it is a thrill to view their variety from the front porch.
Healthy snacks seem to taste a little better when you can enjoy them while sitting among nature. It is almost like having a mini picnic. Some tortilla chips and taco hummus is so tasty and enjoyable while taking a mid-afternoon break to read your favorite magazine article.
As night falls, the front porch becomes even more cozier. A thick sweater or a bulky throw is perfect as the sun sets and the porch begins to glow.
So much to be thankful for. A beautiful autumn day and the serenity which accompanies its end. I wish you many more tranquil and peaceful Fall days ahead and an early wish for a blessed Thanksgiving holiday.

Halloween -- Spooky and Fun Decor
Halloween.....that eerie time of year when darkness comes to us quicker in the day and when there is a chill in the air from the whirling wind that sends colorful leaves in piles against the iron fence that is silhouetted against the blackened sky. Who can resist getting into the decorating mood for this hair-raising, spooky night?
Here are a few frightful ideas you might want to try yourself to add a few simple touches of creepy fun to your home.
First, you may recognize this burlap wreath that I keep on my door for most of the year. I just changed out the bow with a black and gold glitter chevron bow and tied in my lit, candy-holding gold pumpkin and it becomes a ghostly, but decorative and functional Halloween piece for the door.
And add a bag or two of candy for those adorable little trick-or-treaters.
Make that three or four bags of treats...............
Now that it is dark, we are ready for those little ghosts and goblins to come to the door.
A flickering tea light makes this smiley pumpkin candy holder wink and blink at each and every visitor.
A few of these cute little bats came to visit and linger on the front porch. I think they like the gold pumpkin and maybe were enticed by the scent of the chocolate candy.
They even come to visit all dressed up in black lace.
Some even come dressed up in a bit of gold bling. So formal for such a casual occasion, don't you think?
These frightful little creatures all dressed in black lace and gold glitter are lined with a wire pipe cleaner so they are easily bendable and can pose for the camera when they land on the branches.
These cute little friends dress up our black and white striped straws for our "Time To Celebrate" mason jars. Everyone is excited and can't wait until they are filled with flavorful apple cider.
Can you tell...we went a little batty again this year for Halloween? I hope you have a fun time decorating for the little ghosts and goblins in your neighborhood.
Note to the dear friends who read my blog and take time to make a comment. I am having a great deal of trouble with my comment function of my Google Blogger blog. I do not receive any notification of any incoming comments on my recent or older articles in my Google email. Therefore, I have no indication that someone is writing to me unless I check back to any of my posted articles.
Furthermore, at times when I make a comment back or to other's articles, my outgoing comments do not show up. I have notified Google repeatedly and their comment back was that the team was working on it. It has been months and it is still not corrected. If anyone who has had this problem with their own blog and have resolved it, I would greatly appreciate any tips or instructions so that I may correct this is and be able to correspond with my good friends and readers of my blog. Thank you in advance.
