Putting A Spring Into My Step On St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Although I am not Irish, I am thrilled to celebrate this very special day.  The Little Yellow Corner Store is partaking for the first time in a blog hop honoring St. Patrick's Day called, When Irish Eyes Are Smiling Blog Hop hosted by Debbee from Debbee's Buzz  (https://debbeesbuzz.com/).  The hop begins Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 7:00 a.m. and shares the work of a variety of accomplished blog friends who contribute their many talents and flair for St. Patricks Day, such as tablescapes, decor ideas, floral centerpieces, wreaths, crafts or food and beverage ideas.  So be sure to visit on Thursday, March 10th to view the active links of all of the gifted participants in the hop that are listed at the end of this article.  Most certainly you will be able to come away with helpful St. Patrick's Day decorating hints or delicious recipes.

This tablescape created by The Little Yellow Corner Store called, Putting A Spring Into My Step On St. Patricks Day, was a bit of a challenge since among the Store's inventory there was a limited collection of Irish related items. St. Patrick's Day is Thursday, March 17, 2022 and is just three days away from the start of Spring (Sunday, March 20, 2022).  So embracing this opportunity, it was natural to include the beauty of Spring with the beauty of the Irish culture by combining the delicate colors of Spring decor and the vibrant and festive pieces that symbolizes the charm and allure of Ireland.  Therefore, you can decide if the tablescape design at The Little Yellow Corner Store flawlessly blends and celebrates them both.

I believe this mixture of pastel colors in the tablecloth, like that in a rainbow, of light pink, green, blue and yellow along with the vivid color of shamrock green is an representation of the Irish saying of finding your "pot of gold at the end of a rainbow."  Of course, we were surprised to find a shamrock and few coins at each place setting.  Perhaps the little leprechaun was friendly and generous and left us a few gold coins  (chocolate coins) to celebrate this special day.

A pretty green lace three leaf clover table runner and green stemmed glassware adds a bright pop of color to the place setting like the lush shades of green in Ireland's beautifully rich and extraordinary landscape.

The evening sunset creates a warm glow on the welcoming place setting which captures the opulence and splendor of the Irish landscape, culture and enchanting folklore stories.

The use of lace place mats and laced salad plates embodies that long history of Irish lace-making.  Although this is not true Irish lace, it does bring to mind and honors the history of such a beautiful art.

Perhaps some Cucumber Smoked Salmon Tea Sandwiches would go well with the delicate white wine.

Some lively Irish Folk music to accompany the shamrock tea sandwiches.  Let the fun begin.

What would surprise you more on St. Patrick's Day than to find this gorgeous picnic basket filled with roses, delicious veggie wraps nestled in gold parchment paper, sweet green grapes, a bottle of delicate wine and glasses, shamrock embroidered tea towels and charming napkins with ornate "welcome" napkin rings.  Compliments of our warm hearted and very thoughtful little leprechaun who must love picnics as much as I do.

The mystery is over.....I am certain it was our lucky little leprechaun who left us this wonderful basket because he accidentally left his corn cob pipe.  I think we were lucky indeed.

I hope your St. Patrick's Day will be memorable.

So let's now join in on more of the St. Patrick's Day fun and visit with the following bloggers who prepared something special to celebrate this festive occasion.

The little guy may not have left you a pot of gold, but the basket filled with goodies will suffice and the shamrock tea sandwiches look delicious. Your table is lovely.

  8. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha --- what a beautiful and festive table to celebrate both spring and St. Paddy's day! I love that you incorporated lace linens in styling the table. I've just added a lace tablecloth or runner to my shopping list while in Ireland and plan on blaming it on you to my hubby lol! Besides, they'll be easy to fit in a suitcase and won't break! Like Jenna said, those shamrock sandwiches ARE works of art. Beautiful, whimsical and I'll be delicious too! Your guests should feel lucky to have a seat at your table.

  14. Love how you wove your Irish symbolism into your tablescape, Marsha - from the shamrock runner and pops of green, to the sunlight analogy and the representation of Irish lace. My very first Irish tablescape had a country flavor to it, much like your picnic basket is presented. I adore your tea sandwiches for the occasion, and would love to sit and share with you. A pleasure to visit, as always. I hope your St. Patrick's Day is also memorable.

And to sit down to your lovely table would be ... well, lovely! :) Thanks! You've inspired me to make up a basket for one of my friends who needs cheering. It's been fun hopping with you. Hope you have a wonderful St Patrick's Day!
