Happy Easter! Join us as we add a bit of humor and whimsy to our Easter celebration. Of course, this special holiday still retains its significant spiritual meaning. However, here at The Little Yellow Corner Store, we seriously believe we need to also bring smiles and joviality to everyone who visits.
To spread the opportunity for some hearty belly chuckles, The Little Yellow Corner Store once again hooked up with top tablescape bloggers/designers including our wonderful host, Rita, from Panoply at https://wvpanoply.blogspot.com/ for her Spring/Easter Tablescape Blog Hop on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. This hop like all of the others she previously and enthusiastically organized includes links to all of the designer's blogs and will include current tips and ideas for the Easter holiday. (Remember the links to the designers listed below will be active the day of the hop on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, but not sooner. ) Don't miss out.....come back to participate in all of the fun and view the wonderful array of decor creations.
In addition, The Little Yellow Corner Store has agreed to participate for the first time in a hop from $10 on the 10th which begins on Sunday, April 10, 2022. The theme for this hop is Spring which may include the Easter holiday but is centered around the idea of it being a craft or inspiration of $10 or less in costs.
So to grab your attention and generate a bunch of laughs, we need to include some playfulness and buffoonery to our table and Easter festivities. Therefore, our first step in our table design was to combine a mixed-match of tableware patterns. A bright yellow tablecloth filled with colorful pastel tulips and adorable white bunnies is the foundation of such frolic. It seems to oddly but cheerfully contrast with the kooky Pottery Barn pink and yellow checkered dinner plates and peculiarly funny purple Easter egg salad plates. They are all so very different, yet they work well in a wacky and extraordinary way.
Even the sweet bunny couple napkin rings replicates the adorable bunnies in the tablecloth.
How about some purple funny bunny ears from folded napkins?
Secondly, we also included an unexpected surprise visit from our furry friend, Funny Bunny Fern. Fern is a well-dressed granny bunny who loves children of all ages. She visits everyone's garden each year and leaves baskets generously filled with toys and candy for the children. For adults, she spreads her magic for growing plants across the garden so that the tiny vegetable seeds like carrots, lettuce, parsnips, beets, beans and peas germinate in abundance. She has a great sense of humor and knows that fresh veggies are great to use with a bunny butt cheese ball that she brought for her visit. She says that the cheese ball bunny butt is fashioned from times when she had a slimmer butt of her own. (Funny bunny....isn't she?)
Just looking at Fern with her round, wire-rimmed eyeglasses and her Sunday's best floppy hat with yellow butterflies, white lace, yellow ribbon and daisies, you can easily see she has a love and flair for gardening and everything Easter. She surrounds herself in the garden among vegetables and flowers each day and works tirelessly to make it a showcase.
Here is an up close photo of her very feminine and stylish hat.
Fern is so inspired by her favorite ageless, 100-year-young interior designer and famous fashion icon, Iris Apfel, that she wears similar over-sized round eye glasses. Fern and Iris are not afraid to work with bold and bright colors, patterns and sizes.
Fern, a granny bunny who is known for her generosity, left us a scrumptious faux breakfast of pancakes, fried eggs, bacon, sausage and, of course, some yummy mini pies for our grandson. These darling felt play foods which she designed are part of an Easter gift basket for our little pea pod for his new play kitchen since he is much too young to enjoy eating chocolate and jelly beans. There are enough breakfast items for him to share with another friend or with mom and dad. The breakfast meal surely looks real, especially the curly bacon and the pancakes topped with butter, maple syrup, strawberries and whipped cream. It certainly makes anyone laugh and feel hungry, doesn't it?
I am just amazed at your post! You have been a very creative bunny today! You have entertained me from the first word! I need to name my bunnies! Thanks for the inspiration this morning. I have those same carrots and you have definitely inspired a vignette in the future.

ReplyDeleteYour centerpiece is so cute and festive, perfect to welcome your guests to the table. The felt breakfast made me smile, so cute and realistic!! Have a wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeleteI love Fern the funny bunny and I also love your description of your table. Very clever indeed. The 'cheese bunny behind' comment sounds so much like Fern...what a sweet granny she is. And what a great idea using felt food for your littles...so much safer and so much fun in play kitchens. Sometimes we need a little "bright" and "shout out I'm Here" dinnerware and the bright colors are great for your table. It is such fun to table hop with you. Have a great Spring and Easter and say hello to funny bunny Fern for me please.

ReplyDeleteMarsha, what an imaginative tablescape you've created, complete with story and real life elements! Those plates from PB remind me of MacKenzie-Childs' ceramics, and look great paired with the egg plates. I love all the pattern play you've got going on here. The cheese ball and veggie cutouts are too cute, and those felted foods for O are just adorable. The reference of Granny Bunny Fern to Irs Apfel cracked me up - you're spot on!
