Autumn a beautiful season. I hope you all are enjoying the change of season to the colorful and vibrant Fall. This is certainly my favorite time of year and I hope you can agree. This year did not disappoint anyone who lives in the Midwest and was in search for above average temperatures and bright and stunning landscapes. My photos taken to capture the moment of beauty are worth sharing and, more importantly, can be used to inspire this exquisite season of color into decor choices for your home. It is a good way of keeping Fall around a little bit longer.
The colorful leaves seem to be even brighter against the blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Such a beautiful contrast. Therefore, it posed a challenge of how to reflect this play of colors in a Fall tablescape. The answer was in the choice of contrasting colors like that of the blue sky and yellow/orange and red leaves. I had immediate plans to incorporate blue into my Fall tablescape, creating a blend of traditional colors and the unique use of a variation of blue. This also had to be achieved with items I already had on hand.
The trick was to make it a subtle combination of colors-- nothing overpowering. A blend or contrast you may find in nature. A choice of colors which reflect the colors in nature and displayed in the photos of the vibrant trees against the blue sky. How was I going to make this delicate integration work?
I decided to go first with a white tablecloth and a runner with a hint of blue color. The light blue and cream colored pumpkin table runner set the stage for the rest of the table. Using a taupe colored placemats created a neutral base for what was yet to come. The cream colored pinecone embossed dinnerware was selected for an additional neutral foundation. Then like a blank canvas which comes to life as the artist paints the landscape, the color begins to make the tablescape pop with the selection of bright blue salad plates, brilliant cobalt blue napkins and deep cobalt blue swirled wine glasses. The introduction of the beautiful blue pieces is a stunning representation of the crystal clear blue sky.
Without a doubt, the contrast of color with the addition of various velvet and knit pumpkins and gourds in colors of orange, white, cream and blue and an assortment of leaves of colors of yellow and deep burgundy spilling out of a cornucopia on the table speaks volumes when it comes to conveying that Fall is here and is to be celebrated.
Nothing overstated or too bold. I would say the decor is simple but really is a good example of "less is more." There is enough there to make a beautiful statement.
A ceramic turkey serving bowl is added for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday along with a few pinecones to enhance the pinecone embossed dinnerware set and add more of nature's elements.
