Welcome, friends, to our ghostly gathering at The Little Yellow Corner Store. It is time to celebrate Halloween. This year's playfully fun tablescape was designed with a new family member in mind. Our new grandson, Owen, arrived in early August and this lively, comical tablescape is dedicated to him. Halloween was always a delightfully humorous time with my own children and now with the arrival of a new baby boy, I hope to have the opportunity to repeat it once again with my first grandson.
In addition, please join me and other accomplished tablescapers for this week's Halloween Blog Hop hosted by the talented artist and designer, Ms. Chloe Crabtree of Celebrate and Decorate starting Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Thank you, Chloe!!! Please visit each link listed below to discover and dig up some great ghoulish Halloween ideas.
So now...let me invite you.....please be seated and meet some spooky, spiritually supernatural friends. All of them gathered to say hello and share a ghastly good meal together, including some flirtatious, self-portrait cookies for dessert.
These whimsical little ghosts perched in the bare black branches are ceramic tapered candle climbers. They seem to like to climb these eery trees instead of a candle.
Look who is peeking from the black feathered garland?
There is definitely a reason to dance around this black tapered candle.
Don't forget some Mom and baby sugar cookies for dessert. And also Dad and baby sugar cookies in honor of the new happy parents....our daughter and son-in-law and their precious baby.
How about some mint chocolate chip dip with thin mint Oreo cookies for another refreshingly good Halloween treat?
Here is the recipe, if you care to give it a try:
Ghostly Mint Chocolate Chip Dip
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 C cold heavy whipping cream
1 C Cool Whip non-dairy topping
1/2 C powdered sugar
1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese, soft
green food coloring
3/4 C or 1 C mini chocolate chips
1 packet of Oreos (regular or thin or mint Oreos for dipping)
In medium bowl, beat together extracts, powdered sugar and cold whipping cream until peaks form. Set aside. In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth and fluffy. Gently fold in the whipped peppermint mixture into cream cheese. And gently fold in Cool Whip, mini chocolate chips. Spoon into decorative dish and serve with Oreos.
Or perhaps you would rather enjoy a savory snack like a black cauldron deviled egg appetizer with vegetable bats and covered in black cumin seeds.
Happy Halloween to all!!! Now let's flutter over to all the other "out of this world" tablescapes. Be sure to visit each link to be mystified and amazed.

ReplyDeleteMarsha, what a darling display of ghostly creatures and color alternative to the typical of Halloween! I love the green with black and white, and even your dip concoction (saving, thank you!). Congratulations to your daughter and son-in-law (and you, first-time Grandma!) on the birth of Owen. He's in for some real spoiling with your creative talents. Those cookies are adorable - that fine detail had to be a bit of a challenge! I really enjoy being with you on these tablescape blog hops and always look forward to your creative displays and ideas. Enjoy that baby boy. I hope you've been able to visit during this otherwise scary time of being around others. xo
