A Clucking and a Pecking Tablescape

Summer is a time to dance!!!!  It is time to be playful.  What could be more playful than watching animals on a farm, especially chickens and roosters.  And it just wouldn't be summer without a visit to a farm full of those clucking and pecking poultry.  The frolic and gaiety that chickens and roosters bring to a farm has inspired me to capture all of the fun and friskiness in a tablescape.

This Clucking and a Pecking Tablescape is full of fun farm elements such as straw bales, burlap, sunflowers, fruits, vegetables and eggs, which help to celebrate the jovial chaos of being around a chicken coop.  I must also emphasize the sweet chicken and rooster figurines used as the centerpiece of the table were my inspiration piece.  My newest acquired piece is the dancing polka dot one (in the middle) which seems to dance gleefully around the egg and has the most contagious expression of contentment and joy.  It is the kind of happy satisfaction I was seeking in my summer celebrations --pure crazy, lighthearted joy.

Other elements on the table help to set the tone of farm related bliss such as the use of a galvanized steel flower bucket and chargers, string weaved placemats, wicker plate holders, and mini cardboard egg cartons wrapped in ribbon and raffia.

Isn't this polka dot entertainer the most adorable?  This carefree little bird captured my heart and immediately brought a huge smile. A feeling of overwhelming merriment overcame me and I had to add it to my collection.

With the summer's garden producing fruits and vegetables of all kinds, it is time to make Mason jars full of cut up fruit for a snack or dessert.  Cool and juicy summer fruit is enjoyed on a very hot, sunny day.

And the playfulness and dance is carried outside to the porch.

My own creation for a outside wall hanging is made from a red metal quilt design overlayed on white fabric and glued on top of red fabric covered art canvas.  It certainly makes an outstanding statement, doesn't it?

Of course, the chickens left their eggs on the porch as well.

Oh look, we have a visitor.

The toss pillow which I created has a darling pattern.  It just had to be trimmed with charming red ball fringe.

So are you ready to celebrate more of summer with a dance and a song?  Give this summer a performance of a lifetime.  Now....go to the chicken coop or wherever else and play.

Happy Dancing!
