Simple Summer Celebrations Tablescape for the Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July! The colorful holiday is fast approaching this year. The summer months are an eagerly awaited welcome. The Fourth of July holiday and its festive celebrations seem to elevate a happier spirit. Year after year in the past, parades and picnic celebrations at the park, home and back yard of family and friends were highly anticipated and filled the holiday with sweet memories. Memories of catching up with relatives that haven't been seen in a while. Great picnic food, warm weather, outdoor games, swimming and, in the evening, fireworks that lit up the night sky.

To commemorate the holiday and cherished memories, I designed a simple, but nostalgic tablescape.

The theme of the Simple Summer Tablescape starts with the vintage red and white ticking tablecloth.

Naturally, the red and white striped enamel dinnerware set was the first set to come to mind for this table.

It is topped with a ceramic salad plate from the Texas Home collection at Walmart with rippled edges like that of a paper plate and with red poppy flowers and blue denim details.

And what would compliment it more than a red striped tea towel as part of the placemat.

The little red truck becomes part of the table centerpiece because it is a nostalgic symbol of the good old days. It is filled with more blue and white gingham checkered paper napkins and patriotic straws.

The little red truck is parked next to a red and white splatterware pitcher filled with white peonies, red geraniums, blue hydrangeas and red, white and blue glitter stars and firework picks.

And, of course, we need to include the American flag and some blue star table scatters.

A red metal tin punched with a star pattern for tea light candles makes the perfect casual summer time candle holders.

The use of Mason jars as drinking mugs with American flag printed straws couldn't be any better to represent summer and the holiday.

So it is time to slow down, relax and share in every minute of the fun that this holiday brings.

A Little Bit of Sweetness Tablescape

The gentle breezes of Spring are finally here. The snow is all gone and the bitter cold is only a memory. The landscape is now replaced with green grass. The small green buds on the tree is subtly making it's statement that Spring has finally arrived and more warmer temperatures are just around the corner. Small signs of the change of the season is everywhere. It is a welcomed sight.

To celebrate the turn in seasons from the harsh and brutal winter's end to the soft, gentle arrival of a colorful Spring, the Little Yellow Corner Store created a Spring tablescape which reflects the faint, suggestive and inconspicuous first signs of Spring. The quiet, delicate sweetness is evident in this tablescape designed to represent the subtleness and unobtrusiveness of the start of the season. The pale blue color of the Minton china with the intricate scroll designs exemplify the quiet and peaceful entrance Spring makes. Perhaps it represents the beautiful blue of the clear Spring skies. The china contrasts beautifully against the stronger turquoise blue of the tablecloth, which could certainly be a reminder of the stark, blue-green waters of the Caribbean.

A yellow and white floral centerpiece adds to the table like the bright sunshine of the Spring sky and competes for your attention from the soft blue colors of the china. Little sprigs of Lily of the Valley tied by a yellow bow is placed at each placesetting to harmonize with the yellow tulip and white peony centerpiece. (It is a faux Lily of the Valley since our real plants are not yet fully grown yet.) The set is placed on beautifully crocheted white placemats.

The evening sun enhances the beauty of the tranquil colors. It makes the contrasting yellow floral centerpiece stand out among the whisper of the other rich colors.

The dainty floral design on each piece speaks of beauty in small detail.

As the light of the day begins to set, it shines onto the table to make the delicate blue glow brightly.

The florals and bows etched into the glassware lends to even more of the delicate details.

A little bit of sweetness to end the day and enjoy a flavorful charcuterie board at the table which whispers lightly just as much as Spring.

Easter Bonnet Bunny Tablescape

Happy Easter my dear friends. I am certain we all are anxiously awaiting Spring and the Easter holiday. The growth of green grass, yellow daffodils and pink tulips will be a welcomed sight. All of the links below will offer you the opportunity to become refreshed and energized for the holiday and the many months ahead.

But first, let's walk through the vision of Spring and enjoy the tablescape, Easter Bonnet Bunny Tablescape, from The Little Yellow Corner Store. The use of variations in bright and delicate pink, salmon and yellow in this design truly symbolizes the cheerful renewal and the awakening of a flurry of inspiration and activities.

The inspiration for the Easter Bonnet Bunny Tablescape was the vibrant pink and salmon-peach poppies and yellow primose floral placemats and matching napkins.

The matching napkins are gently tucked into the pink glassware to represent a blooming and unfolding flower in Spring.

A matching pink poppy bowl replicates the pink poppies in the placemats. And pink and yellow checkered dinner plates provides contrast and adds that bit of uniqueness and playfulness to the placesetting.

This sweet baby bunny with her adorable Easter bonnet is the centerpiece and from which I created the title of this blog article. Her basket is filled with her collection of pastel colored eggs. The baby bunny with her basket sits on a small pink plate stand so that she is elevated above the mini yellow tulip floral arrangements.

The comical bunny ears made of pink and white sequins tucked into the floral pots with yellow tulips and peonies increases the level of humor and whimsy to the table and gets a few giggles from guests when they notice that they are there.

Spring is a time to serve tea sandwiches shaped in butterflies and Peep shaped bunnies.

When I think of the fresh air and vibrance of Spring, I can't help but think of refreshing desserts that include lemon that are just as bright but in taste. These Easter Lemon Bars are made with a shortbread base, trimmed with lemon curd and sprinkled with colorful Easter sprinkles with orange carrots, green jimmies and brightly colored dots.
