Happy Valentine's Day!!! Let's make the day warm and cozy. It is very much a cold and wintry time here in Wisconsin and finding ways to make the day romantic will also need to include warmth and plenty of elements which provide it. A great way to make this day of love and affection feel a bit more toasty is this Warm and Woolly Valentine's Day Tablescape. Please join me and other creative designers in this week's Valentine's Day Blog Hop from Chloe Crabtree of Celebrate and Decorate starting Tuesday, February 2, 2021, as we celebrate the day of love by browsing through each designer's blog (their links provided below) for some wonderful planning ideas and tips.
So before you will be moving on to visit with the next charming blog, My Hubbard Home, on the participant list below, let's "bundle up" and see what this pleasantly warm and woolly tablescape can bring to you for this captivating day. Layered with various plush fabrics, including a grey, black, white and red wool plaid runner and a white faux fur runner, it makes dressing up this woolly table like putting on a multitude of garments before venturing out in the snow.
Of course, the two white loopy yarn hearts with grey plaid bows positioned in front of the red hurricane lanterns on the table, are similar to wearing a cuddly woolly sweater. The texture of these homemade hearts are thick, soft and fluffy. The woolly red mittens on each individual place setting and the grey fleece coffee mug wraps with a heart button add another reminder that there is pleasure and comfort in protection from the bitter cold wind and icy snow. These elements and textures are a perfect representation of coziness and luxury for long winter months. The use of the colors red and white are the number one attribute for Valentine's Day and contrasts perfectly with the grey color. The grey plaid is a winter pattern which, of course, being in Wisconsin, emphasizes the fact that Valentine's Day is celebrated in a frigid winter month.
Fairy lights and candlelight add to the glowing feeling of being at rest and snug at home in front of a blazing fireplace. The flickering brilliance of the flame sets an aura of contentment, meditative reflection and tranquility.
And, of course, what better symbol of love and adoration is there for Valentine's Day than red hearts, roses and cupid. The red rose centerpiece includes red sequin picks and a hint of red lace trim on the napkins accompanies the red lace cupid placemats. A touch of femininity and delicateness.
To round out a delicious meal of comfort food, a sweet and heavenly M & M chocolate chip cookie bar is so pleasing and enjoyable. The fast and simple recipe offers a chocolaty goodness with Valentine's Day colors of red, pink and white M&M's and colorful sprinkles, but without the long time in the kitchen to make individual cookies.
The recipe which I use for these rich and decadent bars are as follows:
M & M Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
3/4 C granulated sugar
3/4 C brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 large egg yolk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 C all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. salt
1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 C M & M chocolate candies of your choice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line 13x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
In bowl, mix butter and sugars until well blended. Add in eggs, yolk and extract and mix together.
Add in flour, baking soda, cornstarch and salt until blended. Stir in chips and candies. Press into baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes and golden brown. Cool completely and cut into squares. Store in air tight containers. Enjoy!!!
I hope you are all warm and cozy and ready to spend some time browsing and enjoying the many beautiful Valentine's Day tablescapes by the following talented designers. So grab a mug of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and indulge in all of the creativity.
A beautiful winter table display, Marsha! Even though we enjoy all four seasons, winter has never been a favorite of mine. However, it goes without saying that if you are prepared, any season can be delightful. We have good gear for winter outings, and your table is the epitome of good gear for a winter tablescape! The wool and fur table runner, the fluffy loop hearts, the mittens and mug wraps - they are all the perfect layerings for both outdoor gear and for your indoor winter tablescape. Of course, fire in the form of your candles are reminders of bonfires to keep warm, and the sweet treats....well, those look better than any s'mores could! I really love your pattern and color mix in this table. You obviously know winter very well! Happy February to you. It's a pleasure to be with you again.

ReplyDeleteSo many special aspects on your table starting with using a grey, white and red color theme then adding the yarn wreaths, little mittens, coffee cup snuggles (how cute) and the white throw to look like a snowy winter day. The whole effect is charming.

Marsha, I feel so warm and cozy visiting your Valentine table. The loopy yarn hears are so unique! How creative to use a plaid bow, and plaid throw along with the darling mittens and mug cozy all so full of texture. You have used texture in so many ways to personalize your winter location. Then to add the lacy red napkin and red cupid placemats. That was perfect. Your dessert looks so moist and I would love to be enjoying it. In fact, I plan on making it for my granddaughter.
