Holly Jolly Snowmen and Snow Globe Frenzy

Are you someone who loves snow globes?  Do you collect them?  Although I do not collect them, I am certainly fascinated with them.  I love the little scene inside each of them, each telling a story.  Every time I shake a snow globe and watch the flurry of snow rain down on the small figures and scenery, I escape to another place and time, whether it is to my own childhood memories of the past or to one I wish I could have experienced growing up.  What a wonderful way to escape to some place which brings a moment of fantasy and amusement and gives a warm fuzzy feeling of joy.

Recently, I participated in a Christmas Blog Hop with seventeen other talented tablescape designers and created A Holly Jolly Mixed Up Snowman Tablescape.  This incredibly fun tablescape became my inspiration for this year's Christmas dessert, A Holly Jolly Snow Globe Cake.  Included here once again are a few photos of the Holly Jolly Mixed Up Snowman Tablescape from the Christmas Blog Hop.  I am sure you will agree that the tablescape with its cute snowmen  plates offers a perfect occasion to create a snowman snow globe, but in the form of a delicious cake.

If you happened to miss the hop, just visit this link to view it in its entirety):  https://thelittleyellowcornerstore.blogspot.com/2020/11/a-holly-jolly-mixed-up-snowman.html

These adorable red snowmen salad plates are designed with so much playful whimsy that a snow globe cake would be a perfect match to all of the fun and fancy.  So to design the cake, I knew I needed plenty of coconut to capture the element of snow.  Of course, it also required some peppermint disks and candy canes to match all of the red and white stripes going on in the Holly Jolly Mixed Up Snowman Tablescape.  Colored Sixlets candies of red and green and miniature marshmallows were a must for all of the snowballs needed for such merry snowmen.  But there still remained the question of what to use for the centerpiece of the cake.

While shopping for some necessities, I accidentally came across an individual serving size chocolate figure of Frosty the Snowman.  I immediately knew that it was the perfect piece and it was the perfect size for the top of my snowman snow globe cake which I intended to make.  I always loved the Christmas program, Frosty the Snowman.  My children and I watched it together every year.  So I purchased the chocolate Frosty the Snowman which was made in Belgium and is comprised of white and milk chocolate with a great amount of attention to the details.

Isn't he so awfully cute???  This chocolate Frosty the Snowman makes a magnificent centerpiece for this small cake and is tailor-made to fit in the space and opening of the snow globe bowl.

So Frosty the Snowman sits among the layer of fluffy snow and piles of scattered snowballs with open-arms as if to say that he welcomes one and all to his warm and cheerful hugs.

I can't think of anyone better than Santa Clause himself to hold up Frosty's snowy playground.  The adorable Santa cake stand was a gift from my dearest sister.  After all, it was Santa that reminded the little girl, Karen, in the story of Frosty the Snowman that Frosty, who had melted at the time she and Frosty were trapped inside the poinsettia greenhouse, will always return every snowy winter.

Frosty looks like he is enjoying being surrounded by all of this snow.

As an occasional treat for the holidays, I made an extra cake for my sister and her husband.  Perhaps a colorful cake made with multi-colored, pastel Sixlets is just what is needed to bring some enjoyment and cheer and to convey a message of wanting to be together even though this year it is only in heart.

I love the look of sprinkles and pastel balls with the creamy frosting. Definitely, party colors.

I hope you all will find a unique way to celebrate the holidays that can tell loved ones that they are special and loved.  A little extra effort into reminding others of their importance in our lives is essential during these more challenging times of being apart.

God's blessings to you and your family!

  4. Is that coconut I spy on that cake? And you had the nerve to make that and yet I don’t recall receiving any kind of invite! Surely you know coconut is my one true love, right? Excuse me while I sulk for a bit until I gain my composure...

Ok, I’m baaacckkk. Well, I have to say I share your sentiments about snow globes. I don’t collect them but they’re enjoyable to imagine living inside one. And I don’t think frosty could be any cuter, and what a perfect find he was!

I truly think you missed your calling. Actually, that’s not true. It’s never too late. You could be a party planner! You always come up with the most creative ideas for your tables and you pay such close attention to detail. It’s obvious you really enjoy doing it and that’s wonderful to see.

I hope you’re well Marsha, and that you and yours have a happy holiday!
