Fall Treats

Summer is coming to a close and for many of us, we are looking forward to the first signs of Fall.  There are so many ways to begin the celebration of the cooler days of Autumn.  One way might be to whip up some Fall treats for those cool nights, like some Peanut Butter Popcorn.

With some added peanuts, Reese peanut butter pieces and some brightly colored Fall sprinkles in the shape of leaves, this crunchy popcorn is perfect for a casual, cozy evening at home.

Below is the recipe for this yummy Peanut Butter Popcorn treat for you to enjoy:

Peanut Butter Popcorn

1 bag of microwave popcorn, popped according to directions
1/2 C light corn syrup
2 heaping Tablespoons of creamy peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 C salted peanuts
1/2 C Reese Peanut Butter Pieces
1 T Fall colored sprinkles (leaf or pumpkin shaped)

Pop the microwave popcorn according to the directions on the bag.  Sprinkle popcorn on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

Combine corn syrup and peanut butter in a small saucepan.  Bring to a slight boil for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.  Remove from the heat, let cool slightly and add the vanilla extract.  Pour over the popcorn and mix.  Place in a 250 degree oven for 15 or 20 minute oven to help dry the popcorn so that it is not soggy.

Remove from the oven and let the popcorn cool before adding the candy pieces, peanuts and sprinkles.  Keep in an air-tight container until ready to serve and cheer for your special team.

Another Fall treat found on Pinterest is loved by all for its taste, simple ingredients and the ease at which it takes to whip up this delicious appetizer, especially for friends who drop by for a football game.  I love to make a Pumpkin shaped Dorito Cheese Ball, but it can easily be shaped into a fun football shape for all of the devoted football fans.

If you wish to try this yummy crowd pleaser, it is:

Dorito Cheese Ball

1 (8 0z.) package of cream cheese, softened

1 C shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 T taco seasoning

1 C crushed Dorito chips

Combine first three ingredients and pat into desired shape.  Roll cheese ball into crushed Dorito crumbs.  Refrigerate until firm and serve with pretzel pieces, raw veggies, crackers and your favorite beer.

    1. Hi April,
The green stem of the cheese ball is a cucumber end cut and slightly peeled for a two color look.
