A Visit With the Gingerbreads

There is one particular and very charming family which I, and many others, always look forward to visiting with at this time each year.  Can you guess who they are?  I think you may already know them.  It is the very famous and popular Gingerbread family.  I am positive you are familiar with this distinguished and renowned family made up of the sweet, adorable members--mom, dad, boy(s) and girl(s).  Each stately participant appears to be impeccably and fashionably dressed (or dressed "tastefully") for the Christmas holidays and are often a featured star in the world of styles and trends each December.  Now you remember....yes, so you, too, do enjoy their company each year.

Commonly, they live in an exquisitely decorated home, which is elaborately adorned with beautiful architectural details.  Their elegant home undergoes renovations each year (with the latest and finest building supplies) to make up their grand residence as a warm and inviting showpiece.  Their flashy home is frequently a top winner of home design competitions and oddly enough, seems to permeate with the aroma of cinnamon and cloves making a visit to their home so welcoming and favorable (or should I say....flavorful).

So welcome to this week's Christmas Tablescape Blog Hop hosted by our dedicated host, Chloe Crabtree of Celebrate and Decorate.  This week's hop features a variety of designers whose creations highlight the many beautiful aspects of the Christmas holiday.  The hop which begins Monday, December 2, 2019 runs through Friday, December 6, 2019 and grants each designer the opportunity to share and show case their beautifully executed holiday table complete with all the holiday bells and whistles or, should I say, jingles.  Please visit and comment on each of these splendid blog links at the end of this article.

So for now, let's set out for our cordial visit with The Gingerbreads by joining them at the table.

And, of course, throughout the room.

These gingerbread salad plates caught my attention because of their adorable gingerbread men, house and their string of colorful, old-fashioned light bulbs.  The string of light bulbs reminded me of a similar pattern from Pottery Barn and can be mixed with just about any whimsical Christmas pieces.

They are a perfect match for the easy to decorate light bulb cupcakes. One done and eleven more to finish.

Some red and white peppermint striped placemats and napkins that I recently sewed made a perfect contrasting pattern.

And mirrors the peppermint candy pieces throughout the other decorations in the room.

A quick and easy centerpiece is this stacked gingerbread men candleholder surrounded with a battery-operated, old-fashioned light bulb string of lights and peppermint sticks and candy canes.  It is simple centerpiece, but one that ties all of the stripes and the light bulb pattern throughout the tablescape.

Who can resist this wood snowman gingerbread ornament as a table accent.

Of course, a Santa mug filled with more candy canes fits in too.

A well-dressed gingerbread girl and boy adorns the table.

A separate gingerbread house snack dish seems to belong with the other pieces.  Of course, I love all of the colored bulbs and peppermint accents.

And these gingerbread house candy and cookie jars make a cute vignette for the top of the china cabinet.

Night is falling and the little string of lights brightens the table.

Now let's light the tea light candles and the table glows.

I am so glad you could share my visit with the Gingerbreads.  Don't forget to stop back soon to read my next posting which includes a sneak peek of the holiday decor at the Rahr Art Museum's Christmas in the Mansion.  If you haven't already signed up to my newsletter, now is the time to just add your email to receive any new upcoming articles.

  6. Marsha, this is absolutely adorable! I decorated my laundry room with gingerbread men, and have a Hallmark gingerbread house that plays 'Sugar Plum Fairy'. Your elements have my eyes glazed over with all their cuteness! Your napkins and placemats - perfect (you made them!), the lights in the centerpiece (and on those cupcakes - what are those, hard candy pieces or gumdrops? Too cute!). Can't say enough about the table, let alone the cabinet. If ever you decide to purge any of that, I'll find room, lol! Great job!

  7. Marsha, I have always loved gingerbread houses and have fond memories of making them with my mother. My granddaughter and I made one last year and plan to do one this year. I love your table with its whimsical charm. The house smelling of cloves and cinnamon is perfect. I am so impressed that you made the placemats and napkins. The cupcakes look delicious and carry out your theme so beautifully! Wishing you a most joyous Christmas season!
