Winter White Christmas Tree

Well, the tree is finally up.  This year the tree turned out to be something that I was quite not aiming for, but the results were surprisingly beautiful.  I was really going for an antique-vintage look to the Christmas tree, but with all of the bright white, it became my snowy white tree.

I hope you will share your comments with me and if you have any ideas on next year's vintage tree, please feel free to share them.

Christmas in the Mansion-Rahr West Art Museum

I was so delighted to have participated as one of the many decorators at the Rahr West Art Museum for this year's Christmas in the Mansion.  I modified my Victorian Christmas tree and used this theme to decorate the tree in the Kamogawa Room in the museum.  Today is the beginning of the exhibit and it will run until January 5, 2014.  I have included a link for those who are interested in attending and viewing such a stunning and captivating event.

My Themed Christmas Trees

As Thanksgiving weekend approaches, I always begin to think which themed Christmas tree I will use for the upcoming holiday.  Usually after the wonderful Thanksgiving dinner is over, the leftovers put away and the hundreds of dirty dishes has been washed and put away, the weekend continues with tree decorating.   There is nothing like a pretty tree to stir up the Christmas spirit and why not do it on the weekend that you have the most time.

I have been quite surprised lately to find that other people have been searching for Christmas tree ideas as well.  In Pinterest, I have posted my past Christmas trees and have received many notices of when someone repins them to their own collection.  I am delighted that so many people think the trees are pretty enough to add as a favorite.

So before I get to adding a post on this year's tree, I thought it might be fun to share those trees I have done in the past and which pictures remain on Pinterest.  So I hope you will put on your favorite Christmas music and let the pictures inspire and put you in a merry mood.

Conclusion of the Art of Tablesetting Exhibit 2013

For the first time, I am thrilled to have participated as a designer in the exhibit, The Art of Tablesetting 2013 at the Rahr West Art Museum.  For the last three years, my sister and I have viewed the exhibit and made it a wonderful relaxing day to spend with each other as sisters.  This year we, of course, kept the tradition, but also jointly participated in designing a beach theme tablescape.  It was an honor and a wonderful opportunity to share some creativity.   I thought you might like to view it.  The beach theme tablescape was entitled, Lake Michigan.  (It was a tribute to the serenity and beauty of Lake Michigan.)  I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as we had enjoyed putting it together for the display.

Welcoming the Holidays

As an alternative to the Christmas wreath on the front door, I tried my hand at recreating an idea that I seen on Pinterest.  Embellishing a gold letter of our last name with ribbon and pine really makes a lovely statement without a lot of time and cost.  It is a pretty way to welcome family and friends for the holidays.

Thanksgiving/Woodland Tablescape 2013

Halloween is now over and it is time to look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas.  My cousin tells me that some radio stations are playing Christmas music and, of course, the Hallmark Channel has started their Christmas shows.  I love the anticipation of the holidays.

So it was time to put away the Halloween decor and bring out something appropriate for Thanksgiving.  I am so happy to have put together my Thanksgiving tablesetting.  I finally am able to use my Ralph Lauren tablecloth that I had purchased a number of years ago.  Is it possible to fall in love with each and every tablecloth I come across?

I hope you enjoy the pictures of my Thanksgiving tablesetting and I hope that you find that it has inspired you to be joyful and thankful for the many blessings in your life.  May God grant you many blessings.

Beginning Something New...

Creating a blog is new for me.  I am truly excited, but do not know anything about how to create one.  I thought I could approach this task from various ways.  I could plow through piles of books on how to create a blog or I could sit and stare at the screen in hope that I know which button to push to create the beautiful blog that I have seen others post.  Well, instead I have decided to just get in and use it.   Wish me luck.

Since today is Halloween and there is trick or treating in the community, I thought I would start this blog by posting my Halloween tablescape.  My children are all grown up, but I still love to decorate for Halloween to relive the fun memories.  I hope you will enjoy it too.
